Joshimath

Joshimath, also known as Jyotirmath, is a town located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, India. It is situated at an elevation of about 1,890 meters (6,200 feet) above sea level in the Garhwal region of the Himalayas. 1. Ropeway:

If you are wishing for some adventure and adrenaline rushing activities, the village of Ghangaria, also known as Govinddham, is a perfect place for you.

3. Nanda Devi National Park:-

Rich in flora and fauna, Nanda Devi National Park is a paradise for nature lovers. It is sprawling across a huge area of 630 sq km and is flanked on three sides by the majestic Nanda Devi Mountain.

4. Tapovan:-

Offering picturesque views of grasslands and hills used for step farming, Tapovan is a tourist spot located near Joshimath, Uttranchal. Mainly, Tapovan is known for its hot springs. Many are said to believe that the water is medicinal and can cure skin diseases, and hence prefer taking a bath under the springs, which happens easily given the height of the springs. Tapovan is also famous for fabulous views of Nanda Devi, Dronagiri Chaukumbha and a few other mountain peaks.

5. Narsingh Temple:-

Beloved to be home to Lord Badrinath, the presiding deity of Narsingh Temple is Lord Narsingh. Lord Narsingh is regarded as an incarnation of Lord Vishnu and the idol is said to be installed in the premises by Shankaracharya.

6. Kalpavriksha:-

Kalpavriksha is a holy tree located in Joshimath, Uttarakhand. Believed to be around 1200 years old, this mulberry tree is a site of pilgrimage owing to the rich history associated with it. According to Hindu scriptures, Lord Shankaracharya worshiped Lord Shiva under this tree. The Jyoteshwar Mahadev Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is built under this tree itself.

7. Vishnuprayag:-

The first of the famous Panch Prayags, Vishnuprayag is a wonderful place where River Alaknanda meets River Dhauliganga. The place is also home to many ashrams and the Vishnuprayag Temple while also being a great place for river rafting.

8. Govindghat:-

Govindghat is a religious hub for Sikh devotees lying nestled on the banks of the River Alaknanada around 19 km from Joshimath. The prime attraction of the place is the Hemkund Sahib, the name being a combination of two words meaning 'lake of snow' and the water in the lake is actually quite chilling.

9. Bagini Glacier Trek:-

11. Kagbhusandi Tal - Kankul Pass Trek:-

Nestled in the lap of Hathi Parvat (6730 m) of Gharwal Himalayas in Chamoli District, the Kagbhusandi Tal is a beautiful oblong lake adorned with emerald green waters. Perched at an altitude of 5,230 m near Kankul Pass, the lake is about one kilometer long decorated by plethora of wildflowers in their full bloom during the season.
